There is more in adversity

Updated: Apr 16, 2020

Currently, the world is going through a grim phase due to COVID19. Unsurprisingly, our media and society bombard negativity during these unpredictable times, even though the world desperately searches for hope. Consequently, we often mirror this negativity on such situations, believing the grass is greener on the other side, but I beg to differ. Today, I simply want to open our eyes to God’s purpose for us during these tough times and highlight the positives.

Often, God will bring us opportunities that we may consider as hardships, impossible challenges or as a blessing. How people view this opportunity depends on their faith in God. When the twelve spies brought their report back to Moses, only two gave a positive report (Numbers13:27). These two men saw the land of Canaan as an opportunity and the promise God had for them and their people. This was a test of faith to fulfil God’s purpose!

Right now, the challenge that we are facing should be taken as an opportunity to develop holistically as a Christian. This is a time where we can meditate on God’s Word, pray, spend time with dear ones, build stronger relationships, develop healthy habits and skills that we have put off. More importantly, we should believe this pandemic is on the brink of a revival, as we unite as the bride of Christ and strengthen our faith. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
